A lot of households are devastated by poverty and unemployment in Bangladesh. Many women being the head of households suffer in running the households due to financial constraints. Very few have opportunities to earn income. Those who do, are discriminated against in the workforce. Universal Foundation (UF) skill training program is empowering the poor women, helping them to become self-sufficient. Our sewing machine training and free machine distribution program provides these women with the skills needed to open a small business in their household. Our training centers located in Dinajpur, Thakurgaon and Panchagarh districts and we are gradually opening centers across Bangladesh. This is a dual-pronged approach, providing free sewing machines & training to create a stream of income for these women. In the last year, over 100 poor women benefited from this program. According to National Reports, more than 85% of women in Bangladesh use clothes rather than a sanitary napkin during their menstrual cycle. In various parts of the country, especially in the rural areas, girls are not prepared and aware of menstruation hygiene, so they face many difficulties and challenges at home, schools, and workplaces. Universal Foundation (UF) intends to work towards raising awareness of the importance of sanitary napkins. To support girls in crisis, UF work towards arranging campaigns that help develop society’s thoughts. Our campaigns are carried out at garments factories, and schools around Bangladesh by our medical team & volunteers.
